The exclude list contains folders you can exclude from searches.
Adding folders to the exclude list
Do any of the following to add folders to the exclude list:
- Drag a folder into the list from the Finder.
- Click the add-to-list button below the list to open a file dialog from which you can choose a folder to exclude.
- Press the add-to-list button
until a menu of folder classes opens. Choose a class from the menu to add it to the list. When a folder class is excluded from searches, no folders of that type will be searched. A folder class refers to one or more folders of the same type. For example, every volume has a Trash folder assigned to you, which is used when you move items on that volume to the Trash.
Removing folders from the exclude list
Remove a folder by clicking the associated remove icon

.
File Buddy handles searches of entire volumes differently than than searches of specific folders. As a result, excluding specific folders will make searches of entire volumes slower, but searches of individual folders will be faster if the they contain an excluded folder. It may be faster to search an entire volume and manually discard unwanted items once the search is completed.
